100% Oat Bread

First I would like to thank sarahbrownekitchengarden, for sharing a wonderful recipe on 
100% oat bread. The oat bread is tasty and satisfying. Oatmeal is a healthy ,diet breakfast. However I find it hard to eat oats cuz it tastes bland . After finding this recipe online at http://sarahbrownekitchengarden.wordpress.com/2011/05/05/100-oatbread/. Oatmeal has been a part of my everyday meal..YUMMY!! y'all should try it too!!! Now I'm a lover of oatmeal bread, compared 100% whole wheat bread...

The recipe is:
1 * 500g tub natural yogurt
2 * 500g (yogurt) tubs oats
2 tsp rapeseed oil (I used coconut oil)
1 level tsp bread soda
Mix well and press into a 2lb loaf tin.  Bake at 180 C for 45 minutes.

Breathe in and out while you workout






Hi everyone. Today I would like to discuss about the importance of breathing in and out during workouts. Most of us tend to hold our breaths when we exercise.Especially during weight training.  Please do not do that. It makes you feel tired and breathless by the end of just few reps. If we are tired, we then stop our workout without pushing to our max capacity and hence not burning more calories... Been there personally and when I found out about breathing in and breathing out for each rep, I am definitely more energetic and doing more reps. How did I lose weight?? :)



First of all losing weight does not happen overnight. I takes dedication and discipline. 

Tips :
  1. substitute high calorie foods with lower calorie foods. example I drink skim milk instead of full cream, reduced fat butter instead of margarine or full fat butter.
  2. exercise ( as for me I exercise 5-6 times a week to burn calories and build muscles)
  3. I cook my meals most of the times.
  4. I sleep at least 8 hours a day. 
  5. constantly read articles and magazines on fitness and diet
  6. got motivation from my sister and friends
  7. weigh myself as often ( though many would not agree on this point)
  8. consume loads of vege and fruits
  9. more on lean meats and high protein diet
  10. fast food once a month
  11. cheat treats ( every week) so that i would not deprive myself
  12. drink at least 6-8glasses of water per day :)
since I have lost those extra pounds, now I'm aiming on building lean muscles :)

100% Whole wheat biscuits :)

I made changes in this recipe so that it would be a healthier version .


  • 3 cups whole wheat flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup applesauce and coconut oil
  • 1/2 cup skim milk

I made them into 8 medium size biscuits :)

AppleSauce



Applesauce is a great substitute for oil and fat in baking so that your baked goodies are less in calories and fat :)


However if the recipe calls for example 1 cup of oil, please use 1/2 of applesauce and 1/2 of oil or maybe 3/4 apple sauce and 1/4 cup of oil . This is to avoid crumbly baked stuff. :) my experience :)

100% Whole wheat Buns :) 1st time!!!

Ingredients :

1 cup warm water
2 2/3 tablespoons milk

1/3 cup canola oil


1/4 cup sugar or 1/4 cup honey (Used Brown sugar)

1 7/8 tablespoons yeast

1 teaspoon salt

1 egg, beaten

3 1/4 cups whole wheat flour


Bake at 400-425f for 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned


*7 nice servings... should make the last 2 small buns to one..oh well..glad turn out ok :)

My way is to watch cartoons and fantasy movies; where dreams and ambitions always manifests..good always triumphs over evil...hard work pays off...friendship everlasting and ...people are so safe to explore and chase their wildest dreams.  I can meet Harry Potter, visit Narnia, journey with the fellowship of the ring and many more...never alone...with the company of sincere friends and fear within me can be conquered....when I wake up, reality strikes real hard on face, heart and mind, that I wish I'd never wake up...

Home made low calorie corn bread



1 cup all-purpose flour ( I used Whole wheat flour )
1 cup cornmeal (I used corn flour instead)
1/4 cup sugar ( I used organic brown sugar)
4 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk (used Skim milk)
2 eggs
1/4 cup shortening ( I used coconut oil instead)

Yields 9 pieces :)

25 minutes in oven at 220C 

successful and I loved it

home made apple butter



Ingredients

  1. 5 small red apples for a jar :)
  2. sweetener optional
  3. water (just enough to immerse the apples) 
  • cut the apples into very small pieces
  • boil em in a pot or a pan until apples turns soft
  • turn of the heat and with a large spoon  mush the apples. 
  • add sweetener
  • and let the apples cook till caramelized. 
  • let it cool
  • then store in a bottle
Yummy and low calorie spread for breakfast or tea :)

HOME MADE WHOLE WHEAT BREAD RECIPE

Ingredients:


  1. 3cups of whole wheat flour
  2. 2 teaspoon of salt
  3. 1 tablespoon of yeast
  4. 2 teaspoon of salt
  5.  1 cup warm water
  6. 3 tablespoon of oil
Mix em all together in a large bowl. Next knead the dough till nice and elastic and let it rise for an hour. After and hour, form the dough to a shape u like and then let it rise for an hour again. Bake the dough for 30 minutes in 200C preheated oven. Remove and serve after cooling down :)
